Founded in 1956, the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) is an association of nonprofit independent colleges and universities, state-based councils, and higher education affiliates that works to support college and university leadership, advance institutional excellence, and enhance public understanding of independent higher education’s contributions to society.
CIC is the major national organization that focuses on providing services to leaders of independent colleges and universities and state-based councils. CIC offers conferences, seminars, publications, and other programs and services that help institutions improve educational quality, administrative and financial performance, student outcomes, and institutional visibility.
CIC and Riipen have joined forces in a multi-year work-based learning initiative to benefit 25 member institutions. This collaboration will integrate work-based learning opportunities into up to 375 courses led by 125 faculty members and impacting up to 11,250 students.

Learners in this course have developed skills in the scientific study of animal behavior by analyzing and synthesizing well-studied investigations of specific behaviors. They can: Critically evaluate primary scientific literature and historical studies in animal behavior. Apply theoretical frameworks to explain behaviors through development, mechanisms, evolutionary history, and adaptive function. Conduct detailed case-study investigations into specific animal behaviors. Communicate findings effectively to both specialized and general audiences. Create educational materials Examine ethical and societal dimensions of research on animal behavior.

Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Learners in this program/experience will: Understand the new media environment and its influence on marketing Understanding consumer behaviour by engaging them in the new media. Study social media and mobile menvironment through its impact on marketing mix variables (product, pricing, distribution and promotion), strategic decisions and planning initiatives. Investigate tracking and mobile metrics in the digital landscape. What can our learners do for your company? Learners in groups of 2-3 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis. Project activities that learners can complete may include, but are not limited to: Analyzing segmenting and targeting specific markets for social media and mobile strategies. Creating research strategies for social media and mobile platforms.

Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester. Learners in this program/experience will work in small project teams with faculty advisement to complete a scholarly, culminating capstone project. The faculty-led small group project allows student(s) to demonstrate application of knowledge gained.
