Hello! My name is Colin Dunbar. I am the author of seven books, including Nine Bodies in a Puddle, The Creator's Almanac, and The Era of the Orb.

I am looking for someone to help produce concept art for a short film that is very early in development. This project includes producing eight complex illustrations (including 1 or more characters and a background in full colour) and 3 character reference sheets.

We will provide detailed descriptions of what should be included in these pieces of concept art. We will also provide examples of what a character reference sheet should look like.

You will work directly with the author writing the film. We will provide feedback on sketches and on the completed illustrations.

This film tells an absurdist-fantasy story. Illustrations include a giant with a mirror for a head, a train hovering across an expansive desert without tracks, people staring at distorted reflections, and more!

You will receive 2-3 prompts at a time, and receive more as you progress through the project.

These concept art illustrations are perfect to put in a digital art portfolio!

This project includes the production of 11 illustrations - Eight complex illustrations (including 1 or more characters and a background in full colour) and 3 character reference sheets.

The completion of these 11 illustrations should total 80 hours of work.

Here is an outline of the process for the creation of these illustrations:

1. Read the short story the film will be based on. Mirrorhead. This story is roughly 40-50 pages long. Available to read free online at readcolin.ca/mirrorhead
2. Receive an art prompt from us. We will tell you what we need to illustrate as concept art. We are primarily focused on showcasing settings and characters.
3. Draw a sketch. Send us your sketch for approval. We may provide feedback at this stage to ensure you are on track.
4. Create the final illustration. After making any of our requested changes, you can work on the final illustration in colour!
