We are looking to develop a easy to use, professional and versatile brand style guide that can be used to inform the creation of marketing materials and the redesign of our website.
The right candidate for this work has a good eye for design, is practical in its recommendations in the context of implementation and can show empathy to the target viewers of the work. The right candidate does not need to be a digital artist and will not be expected to produce digital imagery from scratch. However, the right candidate should be proficient in virtual collaboration tools such as Zoom, Teams, Word, Powerpoint and email. It would be an asset to have used digital editing tools such as Illustrator, InDesign or Photoshop (at a basic level to develop colour swatches and recolour assets).
This project will involve several different steps for the students, including:
- Researching what makes for a memorable and cohesive brand identity.
- Take into consideration the logo designed for us and other licensed assets available from the same artist that can be used as iconography
- Create a branding guide using brandpad.io (a digital-first tool used by major brands to keep brand guidelines as a living and actionable document)
- Research into the competitors to see what they are doing.
Please note that this project is best suited for independent workers. After going through the onboarding meeting, the expectation will be to work independently to the completion of each milestone. Guidance and answering of questions can always be provided, but the majority of the working hours are expected to be self-directed and not spent in meetings.
By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities (this is basically a retelling of the steps above):
- Research into brands operating in the travel, wellness and retreat sector
- Mastering brandpad.io
- Understanding and showing empathy to the users that will be connecting with the brand
- Research into typefaces (fonts), colour theory, and compatible imagery
Final deliverables include:
- A completed branding guide on brandpad.io
- A powerpoint presentation template
- An audit of our website with specific recommendations on what to update to comply with the new branding guide
Based on the learners skills and interests, one of the following deliverable:
- A social media post template based on the branding guidelines
- A poster template based on the branding guidelines
- A trifold brochure template based on the branding guidelines
Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:
- Access to personnel, website analytics, sales and brand collateral, and more
- Names of competitors to understand the market
- Work within the student's software expertise
