Our not-for-profit organization has been successfully running camps to develop the sport of synchronized skating since 2018, with the ultimate goal of getting the sport into the Winter Olympic Games. After running 11 successful development camps across Canada and internationally, we are looking for assistance in organizing events for the summer of 2024.

Deliverables
  • Assist remotely in coordinating a seminar in Quebec, ON, which includes (but is not limited to) the following:
  • Work closely with existing camp planners and directors
  • Work with team to execute sponsorship benefits
  • Send follow-up surveys
  • Assist with communications, between organization and participants, coaches, and sponsors
  • Assist in planning and delivering classes and seminars during the weekend, as needed
  • If willing: attend the seminar and assist on-site as needed

The exact tasks may vary for each student, based on their skillset and interests. Upon completion of the LevelUp project, individuals will upload a presentation outlining their roles and responsibilities, and the tasks they completed.

Mentorship

Students will work directly with OneTeamMVMT for mentorship and supervision throughout the project; specifically, the Executive Director and Camp Co-ordinator, plus numerous volunteers. We will apply for this project to be funded via LevelUp.

OneTeamMVMT is a non-profit organization (NPO) that creates opportunities for youth development and lifelong engagement in sport, through opportunities which promote athleticism, artistry, and inclusivity – such as the team discipline of synchronized skating. Synchronized skating is a co-ed sport which is comprised of 90% females, and provides an outlet for individuals to stay engaged in sport for life. This sport plays an important role in keeping females engaged in healthy, active living, by providing access to a team activity that combines artistry and athleticism. Female-dominant sports are particularly in need of support; according to Canadian Women and Sport, 1-in-3 females leave sport by their late teens, compared to 1-in-10 males. According to CAAWS, if a girl isn’t participating in sport by the age of 10 there is only a 10% chance of them being physically active at age 25.
Our NPO successfully proliferates the sport of synchronized skating through our year-round initiatives.
