The goal of this project is to research and evaluate various sources of information that provide insights into potential projects requiring engineering, process design, and fabrication services. Areas of interest include COâ‚‚ capture and decarbonization, biofuels, biomass, geothermal, solution mining, pyrolysis, and hydrogen generation.
The student will explore and analyze industry reports (e.g., Industrial Reports), public tender websites (e.g., Alberta government, City of Regina), and regulatory databases from Canadian, U.S., and international sources to determine:
- The type of information available (e.g., project descriptions, funding announcements, regulatory filings).
- The stage of project development when information becomes accessible (e.g., early regulatory phases vs. post-sanctioning).
- How this information can be leveraged for business development in securing engineering and fabrication opportunities.
This project will enable the student to apply their research and analytical skills to develop a structured approach for Scovan Inc. to track and evaluate upcoming projects effectively.
The primary deliverable will be a structured Excel workbook summarizing all potential information sources (domestic and international) relevant to process design and fabrication opportunities in emerging energy and general industrial sector projects in Western Canada. The workbook should include:
- Source Name & Link (e.g., industry report, regulatory database, tender site).
- Sector Focus (e.g., COâ‚‚ capture, biofuels, geothermal, hydrogen).
- Types of Projects Listed (e.g., pilot projects, commercial-scale facilities).
- Information Available (e.g., funding, project timelines, technology details).
- Stage of Availability (e.g., early regulatory, post-sanctioning, near-construction).
- Use Case for Business Development (e.g., identifying engineering or fabrication opportunities).
Additionally, the student will compile the most relevant documents and links into a reference folder for easy access.
A summary report and presentation will also be required, outlining the key insights, trends, and strategic recommendations on how Scovan Inc. can use this information to target new opportunities.
Providing specialized, in-depth knowledge and general industry insights for a comprehensive understanding.
Direct involvement in project tasks, offering guidance, and demonstrating techniques.
Scheduled check-ins to discuss progress, address challenges, and provide feedback.
